Man charged with attempted murder in Cicero stabbing

A man has been charged with stabbing someone repeatedly on Friday in west suburban Cicero.

Tyrell M. Howard stabbed the female victim more than 20 times about 12:15 p.m. in the 5100 block of West Roosevelt Road, according to a statement from Cicero police. Witnesses detained him until police arrived and took him into custody.

Howard is charged with a felony count of attempted first-degree murder, police said.

Just after midnight, a 49-year-old man was standing in the street in the 3000 block of West Warren Boulevard when someone exited a white sedan and opened fire, Chicago police said.
