It’s fall, walleye time, from north to south as a pair of FOTW offerings show.

Take the 8-pounder (above), biggest one Arden Katz caught locally, boated Thursday while rip-jigging a minnow on the Chain O’Lakes. Yes, Katz is the guy who regularly contributes reports for the Midwest Fishing Report.

Or take the the walleye (left) that Greg Aiello boated, a 27-incher weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces, on a jig and fluke Thursday on the Kankakee River.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and good stories, runs Wednesdays on the Sun-Times outdoors page. The story part matters as much as the big fish part, generally.
