No one official is talking, but there are reports British actor James Corden is in line to replace Scottish native Craig Ferguson as host of “The Late Late Show.”
Ferguson announced in April he would be leaving the show he has hosted since January, 2005.
According to The Wrap, Corden would follow Stephen Colbert (who himself is replacing David Letterman) on “The Late Show” on CBS — moving into the weeknight time slot that begins at 11:35 p.m.
Corden’s only hosting experience appears to be his hosting “A League of Their Own,” a sports-based comedy panel quiz game show on Britain’s Sky 1 network, that launched in March, 2010.
Corden also is a Tony Award-winning actor for his performance in “One Man, Two Guvnors.”
Across the pond, he’s additionally known for the BBC sitcom “Gavin & Stacey,” and is a cult favorite on “The Wrong Mans” on Hulu.
In addition, he currently is in theaters in “Begin Again,” starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo and also will be seen in the upcoming “Into the Woods,” starring Meryl Streep.
