A 24-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday night in west suburban Aurora.

Davarius D. Reese was found about 11:40 p.m. on the doorstep of an acquaintance’s apartment in the 1300 block of Monomoy Street with a gunshot wound to the head, according to a statement from Aurora police.

Reese, of the 1200 block of North Glen Circle in Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An autopsy Friday ruled the preliminary cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Kane County coroner’s office. Toxicology samples were collected and sent to a forensic lab.
