A man was shot and seriously wounded in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side early Saturday.

A passerby found the 26-year-old man sitting in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to the body at 4:47 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Monroe, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.

A police source said the man has documented gang affiliations.
