A rash of daytime and early evening burglaries in Portage Park prompted police to issue a community alert Friday to Northwest Side residents.

The burglaries occurred July 15-28 within the boundaries of Belmont to Irving Park and Cicero to Long, according to the police, who said homes were entered through windows and doors, with items stolen including electronics, jewelry and cash:

• Between noon July 15 and 1 a.m. July 16 in the 3700 block of North Lamon Avenue.

• Between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. July 18 in the 5100 block of West Waveland Avenue.

• Around 5 p.m. July 20 in the 5000 block of West Grace Street.

• Between 10:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. July 22 in the 3200 block of North Lockwood Avenue.

• Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the 5200 block of West Henderson Street.
