A man was shot Wednesday morning in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The 19-year-old was in the 1200 block of West 81st Street at 11:56 a.m. when someone walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot multiple times in the lower back and hand and taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

A suspect was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered at the scene, police said.
