A man was stabbed Sunday evening when he went to meet a woman for a date and was greeted at the door by a man who attacked him with a knife, according to Chicago police.

The 47-year-old knocked on the door of a residence where he was supposed to be meeting a woman at 7:01 p.m. in the 7500 block of South South Shore Drive. Instead of his date, another man answered the door, pulled out a knife and stabbed him, according to Chicago police.

The man suffered a stab wound to the left arm. He ran away and was taken by ambulance to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was in critical condition, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating.
