A 70-year-old woman was injured Monday after she was hit by a vehicle during an altercation at a gas station in northwest suburban Palatine.

Authorities arrived just after noon at the Speedway in the 400 block of East Dundee Road and found the woman on the ground with an “obvious” head injury, Palatine police said.

Witnesses and evidence at the scene led officers to conclude that several people, including the 70-year-old woman, were involved in a dispute in the gas station parking lot, police said. During the altercation, a 21-year-old woman trying to leave hit the woman with her vehicle.

The 70-year-old woman was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said. The case appears to be a domestic-related incident and is still under investigation.
