The Sun-Times’ Patrick Finley breaks down the Bears’ Monday practice, the ninth of 2019 training camp:

Rough day

The Bears were tired and sloppy. It wasn’t welcome, but it was expected — even after off day.

“Right now being in the middle of camp, I think the guys’ legs are tired and they’re feeling a little sluggish,” coach Matt Nagy said. “You always have these days. ... This was the day.”

Nagy’s message to his team after practice?

“Our guys got to stay strong — they got to fight through this,” he said. “Losing teams don’t fight through it.”

Throw it deep

Given the messy practice, Nagy himself might have provided Monday’s best highlight. The former Delaware quarterback threw to Bears receivers — who were defended — during a practice drill.

His best throw: a touchdown to Anthony Miller, who was covered by cornerback Prince Amukamara, on a post route.

“Prince is getting old and slow,” Nagy said with a smile. “So I got him.”

This and that

After quarterback Mitch Trubisky was picked off by Amukamara, he threw a pretty touchdown to a diving Allen Robinson. … Tight end Adam Shaheen had a rough day, dropping two passes. … Cornerback Kyle Fuller dropped a Trubisky pass in the end zone. … Jonathon Mincy made a nice sliding interception of backup Tyler Bray.
