A 14-year-old boy was in good condition after he was shot Friday morning in Lawndale on the West Side.

He was walking in the 3800 block of West Grenshaw Street about 9 a.m. when shots rang out, Chicago police said.

The teen was struck in both legs and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

No one is in custody.

On July 16, another 14-year-old boy was shot in Lawndale when gunshots were fired during a nearby argument in the 1500 block of South Lawndale Avenue, police said. He was in good condition with a gunshot wound to his arm.

In May, four people were shot a block away when someone opened fire from a vehicle.

The CPD’s 11th District, which includes northern Lawndale, has recorded more than 215 shootings this year through July 19, according to police statistics. Shootings are up more than 30% compared to the same time in 2019.
