SPRINGFIELD-Gov. Pat Quinn has raked in $3.1 million since late June, including $1 million from one of his most prolific donors in organized labor, newly filed state campaign records show.
That reporting comes as Republican rival Bruce Rauner declared more than $850,000 in contributions to his campaign during the past two weeks, including $250,000 from the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association.
The totals from the reporting of donations exceeding $1,000 precede a quarterly filing deadline Tuesday with the State Board of Elections that will offer a sense of the financial health of both candidates as they head into the final four-month stretch of the governor’s campaign.
The biggest chunk of contributions for Quinn came from two SEIU political-action committees: SEIU Healthcare Illinois and the SEIU Illinois Council PAC Fund. Each donated $500,000 to Quinn’s re-election bid. SEIU and its affiliates have given Quinn $6.2 million since 1994, state campaign records show.
Another $300,000 in new contributions came to Quinn from the UA Political Education Committee, a Maryland-based PAC representing plumbers and pipefitters, Quinn’s campaign disclosed earlier this month.
The Illinois Republican Party, meanwhile, reported in a filing last Friday that it had received a $750,000 donation from Rauner’s campaign on July 5.
That total comes on top of another $500,000 Rauner’s campaign made to the state party on June 28, state campaign records show.
