A new event that organizers hope will be held annually is set for this weekend, and it is targeted at the health and wellness of Latinas.

Called Celebra Mujer, a full schedule of speakers, workshops and other activities will take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Midwest Conference Center (401 W. Lake St., Northlake).

There will be speakers and workshop sessions on a variety of health topics and nutrition. Personal wellness consultations will be held and blood pressure screenings given.

Since the day is concentrating on the whole woman, there also will be activities as varied as speakers providing advice on how women can advance their careers and workshops on achieving financial success. And, for times when work is successful but also stressful, participants will be able to learn relaxation strategies.

There also will be mini massages, beauty makeovers and fashion advice. Or, participants can try out yoga, belly dance and Zumba.

A number of activities also are designed for teenaged girls, to give them guidance on future opportunities and to help build self-esteem.

Celebra Mujer is sponsored by Hoy and admission is free. Find out more here.

NOTE: Updated to correct event’s name and caption.
