A 16-year-old boy was shot in the Brighton Park neighborhood Monday evening.

About 6:35 p.m., the teen was in the 4000 block of South California when another male rode up on a bicycle and asked him about his gang affiliation, police said. The bike rider then fired twice, striking the teen in the shoulder.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
