At least three delivery drivers have been robbed in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side in recent weeks, prompting an alert from Chicago Police.

At least one man walked up to delivery drivers and demanded their property, according to a community alert from police.

The incidents happened:

  • in the late evening July 15 in the 3500 block of West 77th Street;
  • in the late evening July 19 in the 3500 block of West 77th Place;
  • and in the late evening July 21 in the 7700 block of South Central Park.

One suspect was described as a 18 to 25-year-old Hispanic man, standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 160 pounds, police said.

The employee, a 45-year-old man, exchanged gunfire Friday night with two people who entered the business in the 2900 block of West North Avenue and announced a robbery.
Around 1:50 a.m., the man was found shot in the head on the sidewalk in the 3800 block of West Flournoy Street, Chicago police said.
