Dunkin’ Donuts is testing a new product called Donut Fries at a few locations in the Boston area, potentially paving the way for it to join the national menu permanently.
The fast-food coffee chain confirmed Friday that it’s testing a $2 snack menu featuring “several new sweet and savory items that pair perfectly with Dunkin’ Donuts’ signature beverages and are ideal for an energizing afternoon break.”
The company is also selling pretzel bites, waffle-breaded chicken tenders and Munchkin dippers in those locations.
Adding fries to the menu would reflect a departure from the typical offering at Dunkin’. But it would fall in line with a recent trend.
Taco Bell introduced limited-time Nacho Fries in January and the product turned out to be a huge success.
For Dunkin’, Donut Fries could become standard.
“The test is designed to gather valuable feedback from consumers, franchisees and their employees to help inform future decisions about a possible national rollout,” the company said in a statement.
The new product comes after the company on Monday launched a new value menu called Dunkin’ Go2s after previously downsizing its national menu.
