A man was shot to death Tuesday morning in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, according to police.

Fred Brown Jr., 61, was found unresponsive in an alley just at 5:49 a.m. in the 4300 block of West Flournoy Street, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. The man, who was about 60 years old, had a gunshot wound to the head.

Brown, who lived in the same neighborhood, was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the face and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
