An occupied Chicago police vehicle in Lawndale was hit by a bullet as the clock struck midnight on the first day of 2020.

The marked squad car was in the 1300 block of South Kilbourn about 12 a.m. Wednesday when gunshots rang out, striking the vehicle, Chicago police said.

Officers were not able to tell where the shots came from or if they were the intended target, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
