Spring Awakening will have a new home this summer, and it’s not Jackson Park as previously reported.
The fest will run June 10-12 at Addams/Medill Park (at Ashland and Roosevelt) in University Village, it was announced today. Tickets/passes are available starting at $189 at springawakening.com, and layaway plans are available.
“In February, Spring Awakening was given conditional approval to announce its move to Jackson Park; but after the announcement, scheduling conflicts arose with another event in the community, and both events were unable to coexist on the same weekend. Consequently, Spring Awakening will now be held at Addams/Medill Park,” the official statement reads.
Held annually in Soldier Field, the festival (now in its fifth year) needed to find a new home this summer due to the outdoor venue’s hosting of the monthlong Copa America Centenario international soccer tournament beginning June 3.
Festival founder Jeff Callahan stated in the announcement: “The process of orchestrating a festival of this size within the city of Chicago is staggering. We care very much about the communities in which we look to hold these events, and work closely with city officials to ensure that they run smoothly. Therefore, this required us to reassess Spring Awakening’s location to find something that’s a better fit. We worked very hard to find a new home for Spring Awakening in a very short amount of time, and would like to thank our fans for their patience and unconditional support.”
More than 100 artists will be featured on five stages, including for the first time, two main stages.
Performers on the first main stage include: Above & Beyond; Kaskade, The Chainsmokers, Steve Aoki, Dillon Francis, Carnage, Nicky Romero, DVBBS, and Dash Berlin, Borgore, Dada Life, Tritonal, Showtek, Cash Cash and 3LAU.
Headliners on the second main stage include: Deadmau5, Zeds Dead, Jamie XX, RL Grime, Flying Lotus, Crystal Castles, Flux Pavilion, Gramatik, Gesaffelstein, A-Trak and Madeon.
