Even if he’s not here long, Allen allows the Bears to focus on addressing important big-picture issues.
The Bears pulled off a late surprise by acquiring the wide receiver from the Chargers.
“The dude’s still got it,” said linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, a former Chargers teammate of Allen’s who signed with the Bears in free agency. “He’s got the juice. He’s going to bring some special moments to the city of Chicago. They are going to love him.”
The team is down to just four selections in the upcoming draft after a pair of recent trades.
Allen, for whom the Bears sent the Chargers a fourth-round pick Thursday night, erases the immediate need for a wide receiver to put opposite DJ Moore.
Allen is right there with Brandon Marshall as one of the most accomplished receivers the Bears have had in the last several decades and has had more success at his position than any player on their roster.
